OUR JOURNEY

In 1991, founder Eric Eakin started manufacturing some of the first US-made protein skimmers under the name Top Fathom, LLC. By 2001, he had transitioned his expertise into a successful aquarium service company called Aquarium Services and Systems, LLC. With the hope of having a family business, his son Kye assisted with the accounts when he was a teenager and his daughter, Chynna grew up assisting with tank servicing and continued to do so until 2024. Eric received help from his mother Betty and mother-in-law, Diannah in building the business.

In 2017, Eric leased our current space with a new dream in mind: to open a retail store that would be more than just a fish shop. His vision was to create a gathering place where “Hobbyists Helping Hobbyists” could come together to share their knowledge and love of fish and coral keeping. Along with his wife Ree, who stepped away from her nursing career to help, Eric has tirelessly worked to make that dream a vibrant reality. Today, our store stands as a testament to that family commitment and shared passion.
